Gold foil, embossed icon of St. Nicholas
Approximate dimensions: 8 3/4" x 7 1/4"
Saint Nicholas (also called Nicholas of Myra) was Bishop of Myra. Because of the many miracles attributed to his intercession, he is also known as Nicholas the Wonderworker. In his youth he made a pilgrimage to Egypt and the Palestine area. Shortly after his return he became Bishop of Myra and was later cast into prison during the persecution of Diocletian. He was released after the accession of Constantine and was present at the Council of Nicaea.
His legendary habit of secret gift-giving gave rise to the traditional model of Santa Claus (“Saint Nick”) through Sinterklaas.

I found this to be an excellent icon for the sale price. The icon is as it appears in the website picture, so no surprises. The item was delivered before the expected delivery date! I would buy this item again!
